Obituary of Mary Josephine (Gentile) Druczak

Mary Josephine (Gentile) Druczak passed away Thursday, September 26, 2024 with family by her side. She was born November 24, 1930 in Auburn, NY, the daughter of the late Nicholas Gentile and Jane (Gentile) Surrowiec and has been a life long resident of Auburn, NY. She retired after 30 years as a Dental Manager for an orthodontist firm in Auburn. Post retirement, she was an aide for Auburn School District and dabbled in real estate until she decided to just enjoy retirement. She was a devout Catholic and communicant of Sacred Heart Church. She enjoyed skiing as a member of Thunderbird Ski Club at Song Mt. and Skaneateles Ski Club, as well as trips with her husband, Steven, out west and Europe with Finger Lakes Ski Club. She skied until she was 85 years old. She also enjoyed sewing, weekend trips to area nature sights and Owasco Yacht Club. She loved cooking and baking for family and friends especially around the holidays. She made the best sauce and pizza crust. She was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother to her children, grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She is survived by children: Joanne Garuccio (Roger), Larry Garuccio ((Kathy), Patricia Reilley (Michael) and Donna Conway (Michael); as well as her grandchildren: Keri Downer ((Josh), Meaghan Covarrubias (Stephen), Nicholas Garuccio, Robert Dayton; great-grandchild, Reilley Claire Downer; and special cousin, Sharon Cole. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, of 45 years, Stephen T. Druczak and her best friend, Stasha Schell. On Saturday, September 28, 2024 a calling hour will be held at Sacred Heart Church, 90 Melrose Rd., Auburn, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:15 a.m. with Reverend Michael Brown as Celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Memorials may be rememenbred to St. Jude's Children Hospital.
