Obituary of Rita L. Herrling

Rita L. Herrling, 102, a lifelong resident of Auburn, passed away Monday, June 27, 2016, at the Commons on St. Anthony Street, Auburn. She was a former resident of Pulsifer Drive. A graduate of Auburn Schools and Kent Business School, she had retired as the Office Manager of Mercy Hospital. A member of Sacred Heart Church, she was the former Organist and Choir Director at St. Aloysius Church for 44 years. She was also a member of the Ladies A.O.H. Her husband Frederick Herrling predeceased her in 1989. Surviving are their children Mary (John “Jocko”) Brennan, Fredrica Metroka, John “Jake” (Emily) Herrling, all of Auburn, 11 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren. She was the daughter of John and Mary Quinn Landers. A Private funeral service was held at the convenience of the family at Farrell’s Funeral Service, Inc 84 South St., Auburn N.Y. Interment was in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Warm the Children, c/o The Auburn Citizen, 25 Dill St., Auburn NY 13021.
